Road Trip Power Rankings: Week 2

1. Glacier National Park, Montana - 7/11 - 7/14

Glacier National Park was the experience of the summer, and maybe even the experience of a lifetime. Our first day, we started with a lighter load, hiking a few (crowded) miles to Avalanche Lake. It provided us with a gorgeous view of a clear lake, water falls, and mountains all around. After we hiked back, we went kayaking in Lake McDonald. Day two was much different. We jumped from our short, 3-4 miles hike, right up to a ‘supposed’ 11 mile hike, which turned into a 15 miler according to our phones. Nevertheless, it was the most amazing hike, and most amazing day we could've had. The views were unbelievable, and they followed us wherever we went, never ceasing to amaze. Once we finally finished, the four of us saved the day of some water-less hikers who had also just finished the trail, which was great. Overall, Glacier National Park was indescribably amazing.

2. Clyde Park, Montana (Part 2) - 7/9 - 7/11

In the second half of our stay in Clyde Park, we had a couple of great days. We rode ATVs about 6 miles into the woods with Dale, our beloved guide, who then took us up into the Crazy Mountains of Montana. The hike was almost entirely vertical, but the views were completely worth it. We had lunch next to a hidden lake called Bear Paw, and enjoyed the views of the miles and miles of mountains beyond us. The following day was a rainy day, where we spent 6 hours building a 600 piece puzzle of the globe, with each country being it’s actual shape, rather than a normal puzzle piece. After the rain stopped, we rode out to see the sun come out and took some more incredible pictures.

3. Winthrop, Washington - 7/15

Winthrop, Washington, is a tiny little town in the middle of nowhere, but it’s a great place to visit. We arrived in the middle of the day, and went tubing down the Methow River, which was cool and relaxing. For dinner, we split up, and we went to dinner and putt-putting. Afterwards, we met back up with the adults to tour the Shafer Museum, and saw Jupiter and Saturn in the stars!

4. Cour d’Alene, Idaho, and Spokane, Washington - 7/14 - 7/15

Before our journey across the state of Washington, we stopped for a few hours in Cour d’Alene, Idaho, at a beach resort. We played pickup basketball with some fellow Michiganders, and then continued on our way. In Spokane, we ate at an Asian Restaurant, where we met the delightful owners, and ate some delicious food. As a general consensus, Spokane wasn’t all that great.
